As the fiddler in Riverdance and the String Sisters, solo violinist in the Broadway production of The Pirate Queen, and as new musical director of Celtic Legends, Liz Knowles has brought her distinctive sound, a synthesis of classical training and Irish traditional music, to countless stages across the world.
A testament to her versatility as a player, she has recorded and/or performed with a remarkable list of artists such as jazz pianist Marcus Roberts, minimalist composer Steve Reich, singer Karan Casey, singer David Kincaid, classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pop singers Paula Cole and Don Henley, and singer/instrumentalist Tim O’Brien.
As a soloist, she recorded on Eliot Goldenthal's soundtrack for Michael Collins and along with her husband, piper Kieran O'Hare, she performed and recorded as soloist with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. She was a member of the John Whelan band and Cherish the Ladies and today performs as a member of the highly acclaimed String Sisters, the female fiddle super group founded by Shetland fiddler Catriona MacDonald and Norwegian fiddler Annbjorg Lien.
