Eamonn Curran
Ireland - uilleann pipes, instrument & reed maker
14/11/09 - 10pm - Edward O'Neill's (Red Ned's Bar)

Eamonn Curran from Monaghan was the first uilleann pipe pupil in the Armagh Pipers club in the late 60's where he was also taught by Brian Vallely. Eamonn was however born into music and owes a lot of his music to his father Ned, the great fiddle and flute player who lived most of his life in Monaghan but whose roots are in the Fermanagh tradition. Eamonn has inherited much of his father's great legacy of music and currently teaches pipes in the Armagh Pipers Club as well as making many of the sets played by the pupils.

In addition Eamonn has experience of life as a professional player and has toured and recorded extensively in Europe, Britain the United States and Canada with groups such as The Reel Union and Dolores Keane.

Eamonn now lives in his home town Monaghan where he is principal teacher in Knockatallon Primary School.
