Family session

The Traditional Music Session has been for many years the public face of the music - where musicians and listeners interact in an informal atmosphere - and APC's monthly Family Session has always been the pupils' favourite activity! All pupils with at least one parent are expected to attend the session which is generally held on the first Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays) instead of classes.

The Family Session takes place in the Pearse Óg Club House from 7 until 9.30p.m.

The first half of the Session from 7-8 caters for beginners and junior classes with simple music. We take a tea-break from 8-8.30 and each family is asked to bring along some cakes or biscuits while we supply juice for the children and tea-coffee for adults. From 8.30-9.30 the session is for intermediate and advanced musicians. Any parents who play music are welcome to join in the session.

The Session gives our musicians and their families a chance to socialise, and gives parents an opportunity to meet the teachers and be aware of their children's progress. It also gives a platform to pupils to perform as soloists, and a chance for younger children to hear the music that they will be taught later on.
