Instruments

Tin Whistles are available from the Club and cost £3. Beginner and Junior Classes are taught using Club Tutor books which have accompanying CDs or cassettes. These cost £5. Intermediate and Senior students are taught by ear and should bring along some form of recorder to class. Advice on instrument purchase can be obtained from Club officials and tutors. It is important to buy the best instrument you can afford, as it is impossible to play good music on bad instruments. Small children need half or three-quarter size fiddles - check with the fiddle teacher before you buy one. You should also have valuable instruments insured.

Instrument loans Pupils are expected to provide their own instruments and advice on the purchase of suitable instruments can be obtained from Club tutors. It is important to buy the best instrument you can afford and to ensure that all valuable instruments are insured. APC has a small stock of instruments which we lend to pupils already in the Club and who have been recommended by their tutor. Instrument loans are for one year only and must be returned in June 2010. Loan fee for this year will be £20 to cover insurance. In addition there will be a refundable deposit of £50 on loans of harps and pipes.
