Mark Donnelly Bursary Award
The final concert at the 17th William Kennedy Piping Festival was the uilleann pipes concert and this provided the setting for the announcement of the first recipient of the Mark Donnelly Bursary. The Bursary was established by his family with the aim of continuing the work of teaching uilleann pipes and helping young pipers in Armagh Pipers Club that Mark had devoted so much of his life to. An exciting 45th year
The Armagh Pipers Club have had an action-packed year of musical activities since September 2010; some of the highlights were: Gig’n the Bann in Portglenone; the 12th Trad at the Trian series, 17th William Kennedy Piping Festival, launch of the Re-Seisiún CD, completion of first sets of pipes by Éamonn Curran in the pipe making workshop, visit from Feis an Earraich musicians to Armagh in November and return visit of APC to Skye in April, the first award of the Mark Donnelly Bursary to Conor Mallon, Burns Night, St. Patrick’s Festival which included our annual concert plus two major concerts in the Navan Centre and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Féile Oriel in Monaghan, Céilí House recording for RTE, Seven Thirty recording for UTV, Arts Council Award for Niall Murphy as well as his third Fiddler of Oriel title, re-publishing of two important tutor books.Have a look at the full report of the highlights of 2010 - 2011.
Music Books from Armagh Pipers' Club for sale at Crow Valley Music
Brian and Eithne Valley founded the Armagh Pipers' Club over forty years ago and have been involved in the musical education of thousands of children including many who have gone on to establish themselves among Ireland's foremost traditional musicians. They started producing tutor books in 1972 - the first of their kind. We now have these iconic books for sale online for the first time.
Armagh Pipers Club At Féile Oriel
For the third consecutive year the Armagh Pipers Club featured on the gig-rig at Feile Oriel. Once again the gig-rig occupied a new site which this time was the beautiful piece of urban space created in the Diamond just outside the Westenera Hotel. Read the full article here.
